Dr. Wilcox’s interest is in transdisciplinary research and practice at the interface of ecological and pubic health sciences. This includes the application of ecological systems approaches to problems in conservation and health, focusing on emerging infectious diseases and connections between marine conservation and health. Much of his current research is on the social and ecological causes of zoonotic emerging infectious diseases, including dengue fever and avian influenza in Southeast Asia. He is also involved in research on the conservation and health implications of the interactions between society and marine ecosystems in Hawai‘i and the Pacific.
