Dr. Wang is Assistant Professor in Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning. Her areas of interest are ecological planning and design, landscape ecology, ecological aesthetics and landscape perception. She works to advance the applications of various ecological theories in planning and design while highlighting the concern of public acceptance of environmentally beneficial landscape. Her teaching emphasizes the ecological and cultural basis of sustainable development in both undergraduate and graduate courses. Information technology (GIS, spatial modeling and analysis, etc.) facilitates her research and teaching.In the past few years, Dr. Wang has been involved in varied projects contributing to the intellectual foundation of sustainable landscapes, including cultural acceptance of ecological design, open space evaluation in urban-rural interface, designing habitats in urban landscapes, alternative roadside landscapes, landscape indicators for managing agricultural landscapes, greenway design, and managing urban vacant lands for environmental health. Dr. Wang made presentations at many national and international conferences and workshops in both ecological fields and design/planning fields.
