The overarching goal of my research is to improve our understanding of where and why land use changes and how that affects species’ habitats and populations. I am also particularly interested in solving the question of what characterizes land systems that balance biodiversity conservation and agricultural production, and how we can transition to sustainable land systems. My research is highly collaborative and bridges land use science, landscape ecology, geomatics, conservation biology, and biogeography to address these issues at broad geographic scales.

I am also affiliated with the Geography Department of Humboldt-University Berlin.
