Andrew Hansen is the director of the Landscape Biodiversity Lab at Montana State University.

We study interactions between abiotic factors (climate, soils, topography) human land use, and biodiversity.  By integrating field studies, remote sensing, spatial analysis, and statistics, we are able to quantify these interactions across spatial scales from landscapes to continents.  Our findings from Greater Yellowstone have lead to studies across the Pacific and Inland Northwest, the Yellowstone to Yukon region, North America, and six comparative greater ecosystems around the world.  These studies are designed to aid  natural resource managers in  implementing more ecologically-based management strategies.
