Dr. Alexander has established a field laboratory in her study site in Northern Botswana which has both molecular genetics and bacteriological investigations capacity-the first of its kind in the region. The focus of her work is directed at understanding disease transmission dynamics at the human-wildlife interface. In Botswana, Risa Pesapane, a Masters student, processes DNA from bacteria cultured from banded mongoose fecal samples.
