Shahzeen Attari is currently a postdoctoral fellow at The Earth Institute (EI) and Center for Research on Environmental Decisions (CRED) at Columbia University.

Her research focuses on the interactions between natural and social systems, particularly human behavior and climate change. Her previous work investigated preferences for behavior change and perceptions of energy consumption. Her current work investigates effects of real-time energy feedback, how to use games for research and learning, and factors that motivate action in social dilemmas.

She holds a Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering and engineering and public policy from Carnegie Mellon University. She holds a bachelor's of science degree in engineering physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

She will be starting an assistant faculty position in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) at Indiana University-Bloomington this fall.

Research Interests: 
interactions between natural and social systems, particularly human behavior and climate change; application areas include energy efficiency and conservation, demand-side management, behavioral economics, social dilemmas, risk communication, and sustainable development.
