I started as a post doc at the Department of Regional Geogray at the University of Passau in October 2011. I recently graduated from Cornell Universty, Department of Natural Resources, Ithaca, NY about adaptation in social-ecological systems. I hold the equivalent of a M.S. in forest science with a policy concentration from Technischen Universität München, with partcial credit earned at Yale University (New Haven, CT) and the Institut Pertanian Bogor, Indonesien. I was born in Regensburg and raised in Neuburg am Inn. I graduated from Maristengymnasium Fürstenzell in 1996. In that same year I graduated as Passau city guide and started my forstry internship at the state forest office in the then Forstamt Griesbach im Rottal. My research and teaching interests are in sustainable agriculture, forestry and food systems. I find it important to consider how local social-ecological adaptation is shaped by global trends and pressures. I research the social-ecological systems of interest primarily using quantitative and qualitative methods of empricial inquiry such as network analysis, discourse analysis and the analysis of public databases. Theorteically I draw from economic geography, institutional economy and organizational ecology. I am also interested in deepening my practical experience in phronetic research.
