As an undergraduate major in biology I found a passion for teaching which led me to pursue a graduate degree in teaching from Brown University. Now in my 20th year in classroom, I am also pursuing a doctoral degree in Coastal Resources Management, an interdisciplinary program at East Carolina University. My interests lie in understanding the social, economic and physical factors that impact how water resources are managed in coastal communities that rely on dessalination to extend their freshwater supply. I am particulalrly interested in how attitudes and perceptions of various consituents (citizens, water managers, public servents, agricultural users) impact water usage and the heavy reliance that people in industrialized countries place on technological solutions to extend scarce freshwater resources.

Research Interests:
water resources management, desalination, conservation
