The Midwest Summit on African Development at Michigan State University will provide a forum where scholars, students, members of the African diplomatic corps, the general public and representatives of foundations, governmental and non-governmental organizations can assemble for open discussions about their mutual and overlapping roles in support of African development.

The summit will conclude with a town hall meeting on Sunday, June 26 starting at 1:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Kellogg Center on the Michigan State University campus. The general public is invited to participate in the conversation and help shape new ideas and directions for Africa's development. The town hall format includes two panel discussion with invited participants such as Roger Thurow, senior fellow, Global Agriculture & Food Policy at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, Richard Mkandawire, director: Partnerships, Resource, Mobilization & Communication from the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), Sam Dryden, director for agriculture with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Marv Baldwin, CEO of Foods Resource Bank and Joshua Bolten, interim president and CEO of ONE.
